GeJF 2006

In solidarity with the spirit of people's struggle against the dominant neo-liberal policies, chronic marginalisation of the LDCs and their poor influence in the global economy, ActionAid Bangladesh in association with Asia-Pacific Network for Food Sovereignty, South Asia Network on Food, Ecology and Culture (SANFEC) and Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka have organized an 'International Forum on Global Economic Justice' in 2006 at Dhaka, Bangladesh. Forum 2006 was held in September which was a crucial month for all of the campaigners who have been struggling against the neoliberal policies. Three key international events were scheduled at beginning of September which have had impact on the lives and livelihood of millions of people of the world. During September 19-20, 2006, the World Bank and IMF held their Annual Meeting in Singapore. Another meeting on LDCs (High-level meeting on the midterm comprehensive global review of the implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the decade 2001-2010) was planned to launch on September 18-19, 2006 at New York City. Last but not least, the World Food Summit + 10 meeting scheduled to be held around the same time.
